How Online Podiatry Works For You

Each podiatry consultation is unique.

There’s no standard when it comes to assessing the foot and ankle and how they influence our lives.

What makes each podiatry session so special is what you bring to us, and what we can do to guide you through to your goals.

When having an online podiatry session you’ll be bringing your history, your challenges, your victories and your goals.

We will bring our expertise, our compassion, our understanding and our podiatry know-how.

When we combine these in our online podiatry session the sparks fly to lead to an amazing action plan to chart a path to your goals.

The Specifics

We use a secure video messaging platform used for online podiatry consultations.

You will be provided a link to a digital waiting room to access at the time of your consultation where your podiatrist will be there to greet you and commence your session.

Prior to your first consultation an email will be sent out requesting some information about what you’re looking to achieve so that we can move through the session as efficiently and effectively as possible.

After your consultation is finished we will email you your action plan for you to work on. If your action plan includes some rehabilitation exercises a link to you personal program will be included.

Following Up

We know consistency and support is needed when we’re embarking on a journey to achieve a goal.

There will be some behaviours that need changing.

Some habits that need to be formed or broken.

During this time it’s crucial to have access to your podiatrist for support.

With online podiatry, this is simple. You don’t need to jump in your car or on the tram for your session, you can simply book a time that suits you and your podiatrist will be there.

Pricing

We understand if you’re unsure about an online podiatry session. It’s a very new concept to many people out there which is why we offer our initial session completely free of charge.

To ensure that you’re supported through your action plan on to achieving your goals we have an online podiatry access plan for you.

Our incredible value follow up consultations are where you can access your online podiatrist two times a week for only $49 total.

This is a special introductory offer which we can extend over a number of weeks for more complex goals.

That means for your $49 you will have 2 further sessions with your online podiatrist in the week to check in, adjust, inform, coach or review your progress and ensure you’re remaining on track.

Medicare for Online Podiatry

Currently we bulk bill online podiatry sessions so that there is no out of pocket expense.

There are some strict eligibility requirements via medicare however. You must have a chronic medical condition and a GPMP/TCA (a GP Management Plan with Team Care Arrangements) active with your local doctor. Then, you must have a referral written to our online podiatrists.

There is a maximum of 5 sessions per year covered by medicare which is for all allied health.

This means if you have already seen (in person or online) a podiatrist, physio, or other allied health profession those consultations would be counted in the 5 total.

Private Health Insurance for Online Podiatry

There are not currently any rebates available in Australia for online podiatry via private health insurers.

PridePlus Health podiatrists are keen supporters of the efforts of the Australian Podiatry Association (ApodA) to lobby for support from our private health insurers.

Department of Veterans Affairs

A valid referral from your GP to us as your online podiatrist is all you need to start accessing our services online.

The service is bulk billed.

Worksafe

In Victoria if you suffer an workplace injury then you can see our online podiatrist with no out of pocket expenses if your case manager approves the service.

  1. Hi. I have a quick question.

I have been getting extensor tendonitis in my feet every 6 months or so which literally cripples me due to the intense pain. The only thing I can do is rest and ice (and pain killers if too bad) and after a few days it’s ok. I have found some simple stretching exercises online which I’m sure will help.

My question is, how often do I need to do these exercises? Every day? Few times a week? And, for the rest of my life or only after I have recovered from the pain associated with it for a period of time?

    Thanks in advance.

    1. Derek, interesting Q. I can’t speak to your specifics without conducting an assessment… Hopefully this can help as general information… All of us need to get 2 x sessions of resistance training in each week, that’s our recommended minimum. Stretching exercises are rarely useful for tendinitis (tendinopathy) in the long run, and can be contraindicated. It sounds like what you’re in need of is an thorough assessment and plan to identify the cause and then how you can get rid of your pain. A stretching exercise is unlikely to any good long term for tendon problems. Best see a quality podiatrist! Hope that helps.
